The distinction "portable" is mostly inapplicable for Apple Macintosh software, as the standard packaging and installation method of the Macintosh platform makes most applications already portable. However, most Macintosh applications store their preferences on the computer rather than the drive they are being run from; while it would be possible to configure an application to behave differently, this is uncommon.
