Architectural acoustics is the science of controlling quality of sound in buildings. A prominent application of architectural acoustics is in the design of concert halls; however, the more mundane job of designing workplaces and homes is associated with far more implications of noise health effects.

The typical noise paths are room partitions, ceiling panels, doors, windows, flanking, ducting and other penetrations. An example would be providing suitable constructions in an apartment block to minimise the mutual disturbance due to noise by residents in neighbouring apartments.
