Marco Decimo Homepage

Marco Decimo studied at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan; he later attended postgraduate courses with Daniel Shafran and Rocco Filippini (cello), and with Paolo Borciani (string quartet) . He explores the full potential of his instrument with a hugely diverse repertoire, from Baroque and classical composers to contemporary and jazz.
He began pursuing an active concert career, performing in Italy and all over the world in cities including London, Berlin, Madrid, Prague, Budapest, Istanbul, Tokyo, New York, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Lima, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and Asuncịn.
He regularly performs with Ludovico Einaudi with whom he recorded the CD Una Mattina (2004) and Divenire (2006) for Decca .
Their tours have taken them to the major cities of Europe.
He also work with the Quartetto Dorico enjoying partnerships with artist such as Siegfried Palm, Antonio Meneses and Rainer Honeck , he was also first cello at the Stradivari Chamber Orchestra of Milan.
In recent years he has also toured with the Quartetto David with whom he has recorded Cherubini's complete string quartets as well as the complete works for quartet by Puccini and Verdi.
He is also teaches string quartet at the G. Nicolini Conservatory of Piacenza .
Marco Decimo has made the premiere recording of cello sonatas by Giovanni Battista Platti , and has recorded works by Alfredo Casella (complete trios), Antonio Sacchini (Trios Op. 2 and Quartets Op.2), Johannes Brahms (clarinet trio), Paul Hindemith (octet, with the Arnold Quintet) and Antonio Vivaldi (sonatas Op.2 and 5). He has also recordings contemporary music by composers including Giovanni Sollima, John Adams, Michael Gordon, Marc Antony Turnage, David Lang and Michael Nyman .
" Zebra Crossing " Carlo Boccadoro's concerto for cello and ensemble, was dedicated to Marco Decimo and he has performed in Rome, Genua and Milan.
In 2000 Marco Decimo composed " Ad Agio" for cello and strings .
Marco Decimo is also exploring new direction in jazz collaborating with jazz musicians including Massimo Colombo , Mauro Negri, Bebo Ferra, Lucia Minetti, Walter Lupi and the Aisha Duo .
